CT Pre-Apprenticeship Program

Work as a carpenter, electrician, heating/cooling, plumber, and more. Sign up as a pre-apprentice!

*Program coming soon for students interested in manufacturing, health care, or business services/IT.

As a pre-apprentice, students will follow the permitted hours of work for minors as stated by the Wage and Workplace Standards Unit. This means no more than 6 hours per day on school days, 8 hours Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; 6 days/32 hours per week; during the hours of 6 am – 10 pm (11 pm if no school the next day).

Students must set up their own apprenticeship using the below information:

-   If the employer is already a current sponsor, you must call them to see if they will sponsor you as an apprentice.

-  Once you have been hired, then the employer submits the AT-5 application to the CT Apprenticeship Program office and one of their field representatives will meet with you, a parent/guardian (if under 18 years old), and the employer.

-  Once a student is able to identify an employer who is going to sponsor them as an apprentice, the employer should submit a sponsor application AT-2 (for new sponsors). http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/progsupt/appren/sponsor1.htm

Once the forms are submitted, a field representative will contact the employer to schedule a meeting and process the registration.
