Find a Job

Get started on your job search using the below lists of websites and other resources. Also look around your community and talk to your network of family and friends to see who is hiring. Lots of opportunities are also posted here.

 

Keep Track of Jobs- Click here for more

To keep track of the jobs you’ve found and applied for, it’s a good idea to create a table. If you have easy access to a computer, Microsoft Excel is a great tool to use. Otherwise, you can keep track on a piece of paper.



Create a Resume- Click here for more

A resume is a summary of your skills, awards, and past volunteering and work experiences that convince an employer you're a good fit for a job. The easiest way to build your resume is to go to Naviance (under the "about me" tab)

 

Write a Cover Letter- Click here for more

A cover letter is where you get to tell a business why you will be a good employee. Even if the business doesn’t ask for a cover letter, you should still write one.

 

Interviewing Tips & Tricks- Click here for more

After you’ve submitted your resume and cover letter for a potential job, you may be called back for an interview. Your goal in a job interview is to present yourself as a responsible, hard-working person with a positive attitude. Write a Thank You Letter- Click here for more

Send a “thank you” letter (or email) within 2 days after your interview. If you were interviewed by more than one person, send a letter to each one. Personalize each letter for each person you send it to. Mention the specific topics you discussed during the interview.

Congrats, you’ve got the job! Now you need to be sure to act like a professional in the workplace. How do you make sure to do that? Follow the seven “A’s” for how to behave like a professional.
