SAT Facts:

The SAT is comprised of 3 test areas: Reading, Math and Writing. At this time, the Reading and Math scores are most important to colleges. The scores on each section range from 200-800 with 800 being a perfect score. When colleges refer to a “combined SAT score,” they usually mean the total of the Reading and Math scores.

ACT Facts:

The ACT comprises four sections: English (45 minutes, 75 questions), Math (60 minutes, 60 questions), Reading (35 minutes, 40 questions), and Science (35 minutes, 40 questions)  The Science section uses graphs and charts to test understanding and make predictions. Some students do better on the ACT, so it might be worth giving a Spring test a try .

The highest ACT score you can get is a 36.

*Several colleges accept the ACT with Writing in lieu of the SAT Subject Tests.  Check their website.
